Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
This is so not healthy, but what the hay—it’s freakn delicious. It’s simply a beef hot dog wrapped in thinly sliced bacon. I grabbed one of these from a street vendor (questionable, I know) one night after partying in the Mission District of San Francisco so of course, I had to recreate it at home.
The street vendor that I got the hot dog from used a grill to cook the bacon covered dogs, but I do not have a grill peoples so what do I do in these situations?? I broil AKA roast! First, I get my Hebrew National Beef Frank (this is my favorite brand and I do not stray from it), and role my hickory smoked, thinly sliced bacon around my dog. I secure the bacon with toothpicks at either end, then I place the dog on a foil lined cookie sheet and broil on low. Halfway through broiling, I rotate the dog to get the other side. I do this until the bacon is crisp all around and the dog is bursting open a bit at each end.
Toppings that go great with this are ketchup, horseradish mustard, sauerkraut, onions and jalapenos—my personal favs. A soft bun is also a must.
Sooooooo good. -__-
