My New Breakfast Obsession - Coconut Honey Oatmeal w/ Almond Milk

Use almond milk instead of water or regular milk to make your oatmeal. PLAIN unsweetened Instant or Old Fashioned oatmeal will do! Add a dollop of honey (or more if you like your oatmeal sweet), and then add 1 teaspoon or so of coconut oil for a delicate coconut flavor. The coconut oil also helps to give the oatmeal a nice smooth consistency. :) ENJOY!

Health Benefits:

Oatmeal
-low in calories
-can lower cholesterol
-rich in fiber so will keep you fuller longer; will also reduce risk of diabetes!
-high in protein

Almond milk
-lower in calories and fat than regular cow’s milk
-rich in vitamin E (which is great for skin, hair & nails)
-fortified with calcium
-is suggested as an alternative to soy milk to women with a history of breast cancer in their families due to soy’s possible connection to breast cancer

Honey
-Helps you digest the fat stored in your body (great for dieting!)
-Contains vitamin C, Calcium and Iron
-Rich in antioxidants, which aids in improving immune health
-Combined w/ milk, is known for improving the texture of skin

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
-EVCO is NON-hydrogenated and does not contain trans fat like vegetable oils
-50% of EVCO’s fats are made up of lauric acid, which is a good fat
-Due to the presence of lauric acid, EVCO has anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties
-Known as an “energy fat,” since it is processed in the liver and converted directly to energy
